Open pit surface mining is adopted with the use of dozers, excavators and rear-dump haul trucks to mine and transport raw ores to the washing plant within the mining area. Washed ore will be stockpiled at the washing plant stockpile and transported by rear-dump haul trucks to the barge loading port.
The stockpile area at the port can accommodate approximately 300,000 metric tonnes of washed bauxite that is ready for shipment.
There is a barge loading conveyor system with a capacity of 1,000 metric tonnes per hour to load barges of 6,000 dwt for trans barging to the mother vessel approximately 30 nautical miles at the open sea.
Hauling
Washed ore will be transported to the barge loading port stockpile area by using trucks of capacities between 20 to 45 MT. A private haul road 14 kilometers has been constructed to link the mine areas and the barge loading port at Kuala Tolak Village west of the mine area.
Port and Barge Loading
At Kuala Tolak Village, Laman Mining has acquired 100 hectares of land along Tolak River. The jetty itself is located a pproximately 900 meters from the shoreline. A special port permit (Tersus) has been granted by the Ministry of Transportation to cater for barging and shipping.
